Ava Peters, first-year Carolina College Advising Corps adviser at Harnett Central High School, in Angier city, was nominated by her program director for this spotlight due to her excellent work with engaging juniors this spring. On top of an already challenging year, Ava is the first college adviser placed at Harnett Central. This required her to be diligent about getting her contact info and face (virtually) in front of school administration and students. This context makes it especially exciting to share that Harnett Central is on the myFutureNC leaderboard in the #2 position for “highest completion rate growth for large high schools,” such an awesome feat! Ava has been thinking ahead, making plans for her current juniors, thinking about how best to prepare them for the college application process next year.
